I got Mystery P.I.: Portrait of a Thief in the mail via Goozex last Friday. It is the same style of gameplay as Cate West and Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir. You have to identify certain objects in cluttered images to solve the case. The plot in this game is a bit weaker than in MillionHeir or Cate West, but that is not really why I play games of that type anyway. I wrapped it up last night and had fun overall. It got a bit repetitive in the last few rounds because it kept asking me to identify some of the same items over and over again in the same images. Cate West recycled some of the images, but always asked you to identify different items, so it didn’t seem like you were doing the same thing over and over. The background story was much better in Cate West and they made more of it with small animated cut scenes, etc.
Anyway, I am planning to sell Portrait of a Thief back this week and move on since it is still worth $22.50.
